Helping buyers and sellers navigate the Mississippi Gulf Coast real estate market.

Real estate isn't always just about real estate.

Sometimes you're moving for a new assignment. Selling a home after a loss or major life change. Downsizing after decades in the same place. Buying the beach house you've talked about for years. Investing in a property and trying to determine whether the numbers really work.

Or maybe you simply know something needs to change, but you're not sure what the next move should be.

I've helped clients navigate all of these situations. My job isn't to push you toward a transaction. It's to help you understand your options, see the possibilities, and confidently move forward.

How can I help?

Every move has a story behind it. Whether you're selling, relocating, investing, or looking for your place on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, we'll start with where you are and what you're trying to accomplish.

01

Selling & Life Transitions

Selling a home is often connected to something bigger: a move, retirement, downsizing, an estate, a change in family circumstances, or simply deciding it's time for something different.

I'll help you understand the market, prepare and position your property, evaluate the financial side of your options, and build a strategy around what matters to you.

Relocating to the Mississippi Gulf Coast

Moving here means learning more than neighborhoods and home prices. You need to understand commute times, communities, flood zones, insurance, taxes, military considerations, and how life can differ from one part of the Coast to another.

I've helped military, corporate and individual clients relocate to the Mississippi Gulf Coast for decades. I'll help you understand not just what you can buy, but where you'll feel at home.

Coastal Homes, Second Homes & Investments

Maybe you're looking for a weekend place near the water, a second home for your family, an investment property, or a home that could eventually become your retirement destination.

My background in banking, lending and real estate investing means we'll look beyond the property itself to the numbers, the risks, the possibilities, and how the purchase fits into your bigger picture.

Judy Atherton · Real Estate Broker at eXp Realty

My path to real estate wasn't a straight one, and that's turned out to be one of my greatest advantages.

I spent 10 years in banking and lending with a degree in Banking & Finance from Mississippi State University and pursued graduate studies in finance at the University of Southern Mississippi. My earliest experience in real estate came in the late 1980s, when one of my real estate finance professors brought me into the sale of three large Gulfport apartment communities that had gone into receivership.

I returned to real estate in the 1990s and earned my Mississippi broker's license in 2000. Since then, I've helped clients through more than 623 home sales and through just about every kind of market the Mississippi Gulf Coast can produce.

Then came Hurricane Katrina.

Like so many people here, I lost my own home. At the same time, I was sitting at kitchen tables with clients helping them make decisions about damaged homes, mortgages, insurance, relocation and what came next.

Experiences like those change the way you think about real estate.

I don't see a house simply as something to list or sell. I want to understand the finances, the property, the market, and, most importantly, what's happening in your life that brought us to the table in the first place.

Sometimes the answer is to sell. Sometimes it's to buy. Sometimes it's to wait, rethink the plan, or consider an option you hadn't thought about yet.

That's the perspective I bring to every client I help.

What Clients Say

Judy was a 10 out of 10 from the beginning to the end of the home selling process. She showed up to our first meeting very prepared and ready to discuss our options and the current market conditions. Judy made sure she understood our priorities and our timeline thoroughly. We listed our home the day before Thanksgiving, closed on New Year’s weekend, and Judy was always available even during the chaos of the holiday season. Any questions that came up, she was very thorough and made sure we understood all of the details. Judy was always on time with any scheduled calls or meetings and she was always quick to act on anything that needed her attention. During showings, Judy was amazing at making sure the times were convenient for my family. She also asked all of the right questions upfront to make sure each showing was with a serious buyer and not someone just “window shopping”. The sale of our home became a multiple offer situation and Judy presented each offer in a way that we could completely understand the bottom line and all the benefits/risk associated with each offer. She understood what was most important to us and never made us feel pressured to accept or choose an offer. Without a doubt, I will highly recommend Judy to friends and family and if we decide to move back to the area, Judy will be our first call!

Seller
Judy was outstanding from start to finish in helping us buy our home on the coast. She truly went above and beyond, skillfully guiding us through inspection challenges and coordinating multiple contractors and roofers to get estimates so we could make informed decisions. Her deep knowledge of the entire buying process, proactive problem‑solving, and seamless collaboration with our mortgage company made everything smooth. Judy was always prompt, thorough, and patient in answering our many questions. And she did it all for us while hobbling around on crutches most of the time :) If we buy or sell in the area again, she will be our first call!

Judy Atherton is awesome!! She is knowledgeable, professional and a pleasure to work with. We had an unusual situation arise with our sale, and she handled all of the details, which was especially valuable because we were not local. She is an excellent communicator and kept us up to date. We always felt like we must be her most important clients, even though we know she was extremely busy. We would highly recommend Judy to anyone buying or selling a home in the Biloxi area.

Pets I’ve Met

I spend a lot of time in other people’s homes, and honestly the best part is never the countertops. It’s the four-legged welcome committees.
